It’s been a minute since I’ve had the opportunity to take a real road trip but that’s about to change. My friend, Darla, and I attended Livingston High School and Tyler Junior College. We’ll be hitting the road next week to attempt part 1 of what will likely be several trips around the state.
I thought it would be fun to visit the most mispronounced towns and cities in Texas, with a few parks, roads, and counties thrown in for good measure. The challenge with this trip is we have so many and there’s no way we can knock them out in one four-day weekend.
I knew there was a large number of these mysteriously mispronounced places but I had no idea how many until I posted on our How Big is Texas Facebook page and my followers suggested more…and more…and more. I stopped counting after 70.
I’ll update you in a few days of our mid-July adventures. We have 20 communities on the map but several towns are within driving distance of some on the map so we’ll likely add a few more to our list while we’re traveling.
Here’s how it looks right now:
- New Berlin
- New Braunfels
We’re looking forward to getting the real pronunciations from the locals. Follow me on Facebook and you can see and hear for yourself. Safe travels!
